OPEN DAYS

Market survey on Re-development of
Delta and Porto Baros Areas

Port of Rijeka, Republic of Croatia

Redevelopment

The Republicof Croatia has received a loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD). Part of the available funds will be used for the re-development of the Delta and Porto Baros areas situated in the port of Rijeka. The Delta and Porto Baros areas will be used for port activities until the middle of 2012, in particular for the handling of timber. The Port of Rijeka Authority (PRA) will then relocate these activities to other parts of the port. The goal of the City and PRA is to re-develop the mentioned areas for urban, residential, recreational and commercial destinations. The concerned land is part of the maritime domain, and is under the management of PRA. The PRA will give parts of the area in long term concession within the legal framework of the Maritime Domain and Seaports Act.

Investment attractions

The Delta and Porto Baros areas can be considered among the most attractive and valuable spaces in Rijeka with extensive possibilities for high class housing, pavilions, parks, shopping, entertainment, culture and tourism. The development of these areas will create a new gateway to Rijeka's magnificent waterfront. The areas comprise about 17 hectares of prime commercial landadjacent to the current city centre. Their re-development is to be carefully planned and will be in harmony with the character of the city centre. The transition from the center to the port areas to be developed will be natural as these areas constitute the main access of the city to the waterfront.

Partnership for success

To benefit from international experience as well as expedite the redevelopment, the PRA will select a developer through international competitive bidding in accordance with applicable Croatian law and competition regulations harmonized with the legislation of the European Union. The bidding process is expected to commence at the end of 2011. The closing date for requesting further information is 12th of August, 2011. Please contact the Marketing department of the Port of Rijeka Authority to be involved in a market survey prior to the preparation of tender documentation. Potential developers are invited to attend "Open Days" planned to be organized in September, 2011 to obtain relevant information on forthcoming international public tender. Exact details will be provided upon registering.
